How We Built This Tier List

This Street Fighter 6 tier list is based on high-level competitive play, tournament results, and the current patch state. It reflects the ranked competitive meta — meaning characters are rated on their ability to win matches at skilled levels of play, not how beginner-friendly they are. The meta can shift with patches, so check the version notes alongside this list.

Tier Definitions

  • S-Tier: Dominant in the current meta. Excellent tools across every range, strong damage, and minimal weaknesses.
  • A-Tier: Very strong and tournament-viable. Reliable picks with clear gameplans.
  • B-Tier: Solid characters that require more player skill to maximize. Can compete at high levels.
  • C-Tier: Playable but face notable uphill battles against the top of the roster.

S-Tier Spotlight

Luke

Luke remains a top pick for good reason. His flash knuckle mix-ups, reliable anti-air options, and excellent Drive Rush pressure make him effective at every range. He has a low-execution ceiling for his core gameplan but enormous depth for mastery.

Akuma

Akuma entered SF6 with a kit that rewards deep knowledge of his unique mechanics. His aerial mobility and powerful mix-ups make him exceptionally threatening once mastered, though his lower health pool punishes mistakes harshly.

Ken

Ken offers aggressive rushdown with excellent corner carry. His Drive Rush combos generate high damage without requiring absurdly complex execution, making him a popular pick in both ranked and tournament play.

Beginner Recommendations

Tier lists reflect the ceiling of a character, not the ideal starting point. If you're newer to Street Fighter 6:

  1. Ryu — Clean fundamentals, no gimmicks. Forces you to learn the core game.
  2. Guile — Teaches you footsies and patience. Strong defensive toolkit.
  3. Cammy — Straightforward offense that teaches aggression and timing.

Final Notes

Remember: character tier is only one factor in winning. Match knowledge, execution consistency, and mental composure matter more at most skill levels. An A-tier character you know inside-out will outperform an S-tier pick you're still learning. Use this list as a guide, not a strict rule.
